The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, signed the Lagos Electricity Bill 2024 into law on the 3rd of December, 2024. The law aims to establish a framework for electricity generation, transmission, distribution and regulation within the state, aligning with Nigeria's Electricity Act of 2023, which decentralised the power sector. It was also passed to ensure energy sufficiency across the state and strengthen its economic and infrastructural development.
